I have used this thing for the last 20 years and I found it at a garage sale in new shape for 20 bucks back in the late 80s and while I do not have any problems with it so far, some day it is going to need some parts and a blade. For a smaller home slicer it sure has been a good one. The only thing I had to do is find a new spring so the blade held a little tighter, as the old one got weak and the blade would wobble on tougher meats.

I am diabetic and I use it for everything. I slice my bread into 1/8 and 1/4 inch slices to loose some of the carbs by making the slice very thin, and I still get to make sandwiches, cheese toast and stuff on a shingle. My favorite bread is sour dough and I can get 50 slices out of a loaf.

I owned two of the plastic ones and the slices are terrible and all over the place if you set it for thin and I had a great big one that worked great, but it took up half the counter and cost a fortune.
