Thing is, I get great value out of FL Wavetraveller, which I use extensively to do scratching effects. What could I do with Grossbeat that I couldn't do with Wavetraveller? There are two options in Gross Beat. One window(and a knob) let you edit the 'time' value of a section of your song(up to one bar I think). The other window(and knob) allow you to Edit the volume automation. Everything in Gross Beat COULD be done with automation clips IF you could automate the time knob. But you cant. In addition, Gross Beat allows you to create a time-automation sequence which you can loop and if you copy the 'value' of a certain loop-sequence into the playlist you can stutter, scratch, and reverse ALL AUDIO PLAYED THROUGH THAT MIXER CHANNEL(the one Gross Beat is loaded into).

It does not require a sound sample to be loaded into the plugin. I am completely unfamiliar with Wavetraveler but I hope this clears up what Gross Beat does and helps you differentiate between the two. You can also make simple/complex volume gates like 1/4th stutters and other things but you can do that with a volume automation just as easily. The ease comes from having Named Automation Clips that you can place a separate pieces. Ill stop talking before I make it even more confusing but reply if you have any questions.

In Wavetraveller, you load a sample, which gets its own tiny pianoroll window, but instead of drawing notes in it, you draw a squiggly line that represents where in the sample the 'needle' of the record player is at that moment. Because the shape of the line can be anything, many types of scratchy effects can be made. The plugin lets you draw as many different sequences as you like, and you trigger them with keyboard keys.
